Course Objectives:
The purpose of this course is to make teachers aware of the TEFL materials evaluation and development process and to help them make reasoned choices when evaluation and developing materials for the foreign language classroom. Course participants will develop a theoretical framework according to which they will evaluate and develop materials to suit the syllabus, the setting and the learners according to theoretically sound principles. Participants will be provided with suitable models to guide their own production and will be given an opportunity to develop their skills and expand their own repertoire of materials by means of peer presentations.
Course Content:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the framework for materials evaluation and development
- Design theoretically sound learning tasks, using a range of methods such as group work
- Select appropriate materials for their students according to theoretically sound principles
- Design an integrated unit of work including speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, comprehension.
