Doctoral Program in English Language Education Application Requirements

The aim of the PhD program is to enable candidates to specialize in the field of foreign language teacher education and to develop research skills that will contribute to this field. The program offers a balanced approach between theory and practice. Graduates of the program may contribute to pre-service and in-service teacher education programs or work as faculty members in relevant university departments.

Application Requirements

  • A master's degree in English Language Education or a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching or a teaching certificate from a YÖK-accredited institution (a document will be requested during the interview).
  • A minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the master's program.
  • Candidates must pass a written/oral proficiency exam in the field of English Language Teaching.
  • A minimum score of 60 in the ALES exam (EA - Equal Weight).
  • A minimum score of 80 from the YDS/YÖKDİL exam within the last 5 years, or a score of at least 550 + TWE 4.5 in the TOEFL PBT, 213 + TWE 4.5 in the TOEFL CBT, or 79 + TWE 24 in the TOEFL iBT within the last 2 years
  • Applicants must submit a statement of purpose during the online application and have two reference letters sent by their referees to elt@yeditepe.edu.tr.
